RETROFIT DESIGN
For retro-fit projects, vessel’s existing machinery space is scanned using a high accuracy laser scanner which gives a point cloud. This is a primary input based on which further design modelling is carried out. The projects are normally carried out in two stages, Basic / Concept design stage and after approval of the same, a Detail engineering stage. The major Basic design deliverables are the P&ID, the 3D model indicating the proposed retro-fit design, an MTO and a report. The Detail design stage gives the complete fabrication package including all piping isometrics, structural foundations, machinery, electrical and outfitting drawings. Prefabrication can be done by the shipyard to the maximum extent before vessel docking thereby enabling vessel down-time.
